Traveler ReviewsInteresting people, excellent food, THE place to spend an enjoyable evening
Reviewed by Gussi63 on Mar 5, 2011Havana is located in the entertainment-area of Westlands, so there is quite some competition around. I like Havana's atmosphere with the mix of Africans and Expats and it's very easy to get into interesting talk. Unlike other places nearby you hardly won't be disturbed by the "working-girls". Most astonishing is the excellent food there, which you might not expect in a place that from its outer appearance is more a bar/pub-thing. Though the setting and presentation is rather on the casual side you can get quite innovative dishes, without unnecessary chi-chi. Drinkwise you get the full bar-range with some specialities like Jägermeister. Don't miss the Mojito. When in Nairobi I go there 2-3 times a week. My favourite evening is the saturday with the live-band, in a very familiar atmosphere. It's quite different on thursdays (I also like), when famous DJ Zelalem works the turntables - that's the night you want to party. Then at times it's so crowded that the friendly service gets a bit chaotic. In short: If you look for an entertaining evening out, good food and some nice people around you - try Havana.
Not a place to go to
Reviewed by Cindy25171 on Dec 29, 2010This is a sloppy bar, trying to be a restaurant. The only thing from Havana is the bad housekeeping and dirt. Food is not riskfree and environment is not pleasant, unless you are drunk at arrival. Teh only reason for this palce to survive is that it is open until late so you can get something to eat at the late hours. Othervise it is not to be visited.
Good Times!
Reviewed by C-Kui on Oct 21, 2010Havana has this atmosphere about it...friendly staff, friendly party-people (HOLLA!) Dj Sumo rocks Friday nights,n I love live-band saturdays! The food...currywurst is really good :) But I'm mostly there to drink n party!!! Definately my first stop when Im home :) Have a good time ya'll!
Havana Rocks!!
Reviewed by Mo-in-Dubai on Oct 6, 2010Havana is & always has been my first stop whenever I get home. Situated in Nairobi's "hang-out District" called Westlands, just a 2mins drive from the CBD. Different theme nights (music-wise) with their in-house Sumo DJs playing to every request. Its cosmopolitan crowd makes any expatriate or visitor feel very much at home or anywhere for that matter & it is the one place that I'm guaranteed to enjoy a drink...or a couple, with both my airline work colleagues & friends as drinks are fairly priced, the menu rocks & the music doesnt stop till the last customer leaves. If you like your Mojitos like I do, this is the go-to place!! Do come early esp. on weekends as sitting fills up pretty fast!!
Like the finest Cuban cigar...
Reviewed by Ayoba_10 on Sep 14, 2010After arriving in Nairobi on a Saturday night I dumped my bags at the hotel and was told to head down to Westlands to sample some of the best Nairobi nightlife. Stumbled into this place after checking another bar on the strip. Havana had a nice intimate atmosphere, good selection of drinks and a varied music policy. Oh and I just happened to meet a hot Kenyan girl which topped the night off! I would definitely recommend it and I'll be sure to pay a visit next time I'm in Kenya.
