Traveler Reviewsrather a disappointment...
Reviewed by RQP on Nov 17, 2010We were excited by previous reviews and the fact that when you have a jones for Thai food in Africa your options are limited. The food was fine, nothing spectacular... and certainly nothing close to 'real' thai with the requisite heat or sour (but plenty of sweet and salty, they are obviously catering to non-thai eaters)... the maitre 'd was lovely (Martin), but our waiter was just 'not present' - he got a couple of things wrong, we asked for one dish we had barely touched to be wrapped to go - and it was neither wrapped nor even saved, he wanted to pour wine when clearly we didn't need/want any and he wasn't to be found when we did or needed something. Nothing was terribly wrong with anything, it was just as I wrote... a disappointment. I would only recommend this if you were desperate for a little taste of Thai, otherwise... head to the Tribe's Epic Restaurant for an exceptional dining experience in Nairobi.
Best Thai food in Nairobi
Reviewed by TA_member_wp on Oct 16, 2010There are not many Thai restaurants in Nairobi and Tai Chi is the best. The chef is Thai and the taste is more authentic than the others in but it's milder than the food you'd find in Thailand, which is normal for Thai restaurants abroad.
I can't fault the service - the staff are clearly well-trained and very attentive but not too intrusive. I had seafood salad which, to me, was quite good though I expect it to be more spicy. I had duck curry as main course and it was very good. Overall, I certainly enjoyed the dining experience at Tai Chi.
Utterly fantastic!
Reviewed by EssJayWhy on Oct 11, 2010We ate here twice on both nights we stayed at the Stanley in October. Food was excellent on each occasion- very authentic Thai, from their Thai chef. Lovely ambience and polite and attentive service without being too stuffy and formal. I can recommend the Som Tam and any of the curries!
We came prepared for a huge bill (but thought we would splurge) but were very pleasantly suprised- very good value at probably under £10 pp for a main with a couple of shared sides. Excellent wine list too.
If you have had a true authentic Thai...
Reviewed by Qaisarkhan on Aug 26, 2010If you have had a true authentic Thai good, you would not call this
Authentic. It was deficient in true flavor. My top three choices on the menu were not available.
Service and ambiance is great .
