Reviewed by TessandPete on Feb 25, 2011We have dived in many countries with some good dive centres but Peponi Divers in Mombassa Kenya are the best so far. Before we travelled I had usefull and informative dialogue with Chris who answered all my questions. We were able to book our six dive pack before leaving the uk and by paying by bank transfer we received a discount. We were told on arrival to contact Jacob who was Peponi Divers representative at our resort. He was friendly and helpful and arranged our pick up for our first dives. We were collected and taken to the resort where Peponi Divers is located, first impression was wow wish we were staying here, we were greeted by staff from Peponi who carried our bags down to their dive centre. Nothing was too much trouble. All we had to do was put our kit together then carry our fins, mask and weights to the boat. The rest of our equipment was carried by the dive centre staff, they changed our tanks between dives and unloaded the boat at the end of the trip. The next day our kit was already set up and on the boat when we arrived, all we had to do was get dressed grab fins, weights and mask and off we went. On each dive the briefing was excellent, the team on the boat were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Between dives there was water and fresh fruit and a chance to relax and catch the sun. We saw some awesome fish, sharks, turtles, crocodile fish, rays, morays, stone fish, lion fish the list is endless. I recommend Chris and his team to anyone looking to go diving in Mombassa and have every intention of making another visit sometime soon.
Very proffesional
Reviewed by Popple77 on Jan 11, 2011We did 4 dives each whilst in Kenya over Christmas. Chris was very helpful in communicating with us before we went to Kenya. We paid in advance and got a discount. We are advanced divers but as we had not dived in over a year he made us do a 10min pool check to ensure we were ok which included swimming, taking mask off etc. At first I was a bit put out by doing this but it turned out to be great as it took the anxiety out of diving and i could enjoy my first dive rather than having to remember all the skills.
Fantastic Friendly Dive Center
Reviewed by cox2110 on Jan 11, 2011We have just arrived back from Kenya and the first thing we do is to review peponi Divers !!. Peponi divers are a very professional team of diving instructors/guides whom i would not hesitate to recommend to anyone travelling to Kenya in search of good quality diving at very reasonable cost. Together with excellent guides and a very high standard of safety Chris,Sven and the rest of the team deserve to go far in 2011 We saw some excellent fish including sharks and lionfish to leaffish and stone fish which were pointed out to us by the really good guides. Another good thing about Peponi is that nothing is too much trouble for them, picking you up from your hotel and dropping you back off, organising fishing trips with someone who they can trust, rather than trying yourself and paying extra for inferior service, even taking you to the cash machine when you need money in a hurry. Thankyou Peponi for such a quality service which we certainly will be repeating in the future. Nick & Bernice
Non Diving Review!
Reviewed by smallwren on Jan 8, 2011This is a bit of an odd review as it doesn't actually involve any diving!
We visited Kenya in October 2010 (staying at the Voyager Beach Hotel) and on our first day we went to see Chris at Peponi Diving. We'd had really good communication from him before we arrived and we were looking forward to going diving with them.
Upon arrival we found the prices to be very reasonable with no hidden extras with a focus very much on saftey. We hadn't been diving for a while so had done a refresher course in the UK before travelling to Kenya. Even with this refresher course logged and due to my own nervousness about diving again Chris suggested we do a test drive in the pool (which if we booked further dives afterwards there would be no charge for) to ensure we would be safe around the reef.
Sadly i wasn't well throughout the whole trip to Kenya so wasn't able to go diving.
We were really upset about this as we'd really been looking forward to going and had been very impressed with the service we had had from the dive school. Every contact we'd had with them had been professional, helpful and totally reassuring. Due to a previous mishap on my last dive i was very nervous about diving again but the professionalism of everyone at the school had reassured me.
Although we didn't get to go diving with them i wouldn't hesitate to recommend this excellent company to anyone and one day we hope to return to Kenya so we can finally go diving with them!
Happy diving everyone!
Excellent dive center
Reviewed by Vjanicewallace on Jan 7, 2011Neil and I booked our holiday to Kenya in July 2010, shortly after I started to research the available Dive centres close to my hotel in Bamburi. I contacted the main dive centres to ask about prices, dives, kit and whether it would be good season for the whale sharks. All the dive centres replied to me but I found that Peponi Divers went that extra mile, they didn?t just send a standard reply they actually read my questions. Booking with them was simple; Chris sent me an invoice with different options on payment. I chose to transfer the amount to a Euro account and was given a reasonable discount. Once the payment was received Chris acknowledged this straight away and gave me details on how to contact them once I had arrived in Kenya.
On arrival in Kenya I contacted Chris and we arranged for a time to be picked up and taken to the dive centre for a scuba review. I was impressed with having the pool review as I?ve been to a few dive centres and they look at your certification and presume you will be fine because you are at a certain level. I had been out of the water for 3 years so the scuba review was excellent for being reacquainted with the basics and making you feel comfortable with diving again.
My friend and I booked 10 dives with peponi and the service was excellent. We were picked up on time and dropped back off at out hotel after our dives .At the Bahari Hotel there was always a member of the dive team there to assist you with you diving gear/bags. This level of service continued, everyday they set up your gear, carried it to and from the boat. The only things we were expected to carry were mask, fins and weights. The diving was excellent, the dive groups were small and you were asked what sites you would like to dive. A dive briefing was always given; they assisted you with gearing up and lifting your gear out of the water after each dive. Underwater the dive guides were always keen to point out the marine life, if you had any issues they would be there to help you out. The marine life was fantastic, I never did get to spot my whale shark but you can?t have everything and it gives me an excuse to go back.
Safety was very important to Peponi after each dive and leaving a dive site a call was made to the centre to let them know that everything was ok and when they were returning.
After my final dive I arranged with Chris to collect my dive gear the following day to give it time to dry out. Well it never did get packed up the next day as less than 5 hours later I was back on the phone to Chris asking if I could dive again!!!
Overall it was a fantastic experience with an excellent diver centre ran by really knowledgeable and friendly staff. The prices were reasonable and I definitely did pick the best dive centre to go with.
