Reviewed by Nyakato on Feb 21, 2011Lunch at the La Marina on Sunday Feb 27 2011 was simply memorable...the ambience, the food, the soft music, the view of the ocean, the location...all perfect for a nice Sunday afternoon lunch!
Excellent place for weddings
Reviewed by perkins12 on Jan 5, 2011I had my wedding at La Marina a couple of weeks ago and would recommend anyone thinking of having a wedding in kenya to consider La Marina. We had the ceremony and reception at the restaurant and they went out of their way to ensure that it was so special. Alice Patricia and Rita was brilliant at making sure that we had everything we needed and really stopped me getting so stressed out!. I would recommend this restaurant for all kinds of celebrations, We hope to be spending our wedding anniversary there.
Exceptional, Highly Recommended
Reviewed by Scubasteve647604 on Jan 5, 2011We dinned here twice during our stay in December and both meals were excellent. Not sure where to start as I think it has all been said in previous reports.
Well here goes, it all starts with being picked up from your hotel and returned afterwards an excellent idea and service.
Both times we had great tables with good views, 2nd time on the upper deck, best view. The staff were attentive but not overbearing. There was a trio playing music and singing which made for a nice atmosphere. The menu choice was extensive with both sea food and meat dishes, the meals were excellent, both in quality and portions.. The wine was very reasonable and tasty. The price was very good value, for 2 x 3 course meals + 2 half litres of house wine (1 red + 1 white) came to £45.
If you could pick this restaurant up and move it to England you would have to book months in advance and it would be double the price.
La Marina is head and shoulders above the Tamarind (don?t go there-see separate report).
It was that good after our 1st visit we took some friends there for a meal and there only complaint was we had not taken them earlier as they would have been back for additional visits.
In summary, excellent meal, service, atmosphere & hospitality, would definitely recommend and will return on my next visit to Mombassa.
To all the staff tthank you and keep up the good work.
First Class

Restaurant provides a free taxi service there and back from your hotel. Don't be put off by the area you have to travel through to get there we felt perfectly safe with our driver.
Set in a beautifull location by the river. If you can, ask for the 'upper deck'. Excellent choice of food including seafood specialities, steaks etc. House wine perfectly acceptable and very well priced. Overall meal and service excellent, staff very friendly and attentive and value for money is amazing.
We hope to be back again in 2011 and will be visiting this restaurant again.
30th Birthday Celebrations
Reviewed by carsey2411 on Dec 2, 2010We went here as you can guess to celebrate my 30th birthday.
free shuttle excellent and easily arranged through reception at The Voyager when booking.
Staff very friendly and lovely cocktails.
Food was good, i wouldnt say amazing but very nice.
Surrounding beautiful,
The only thing i would say and this was probably our fault is to ask for them to bring out the courses a little slower we were there to relax have fun and it seemed as though it was a conveyer of food. We had ordered recieved our cocktails and our starter was out before we had a chance to relax with our cocktails.
Would i go back there again, yes.
